Tire Pressure Conversion Charts - bar to psi and psi to bar and other pressure units
Tire Pressure Conversion Charts display conversion charts for tire pressure measurement units, conversion from one to another unit. For e.g., psi to bar, bar to psi, psi to kPa, kPa to psi, bar to kPa and kPa to bar.
Tire pressure is defined as the force per area exerted by air.
Commonly used pressure units for tire pressure are psi (pounds per square inch) and bar.
Psi is a measuring unit frequently used in the United States, while bar is preferred in Europe. Psi is defined as a unit for pressure when the force of one pound is applied to a one-square-inch area.
Pascal (Pa) and Kilopascal (kPa) are units of measure in Europe and other countries where the metric system is dominant. Pascal is too little unit and therefore only Kilopascal is in use. Pascal is a small unit mainly used to measure low pressures and this is why tire pressures are more commonly measured in kPa (Kilopascals). 1 kPa is equal to 1000 Pa.
If you live in the United States where the imperial measurement system is dominant and you have a car from Germany where the metric system is used, you might need to know how to make conversion from bar to psi. The simplest way to make conversion is to multiply bar pressure by 14.50. If you live in Germany and buy a car manufactured in the United States, it's good to know how to convert psi to bar. Conversion is achieved by dividing the psi pressure by 14.50.
Formulas for pressure units onversion are as follows:
- 1 bar = 14.50 psi
- 1 psi = 0.07 bar
- 1 psi = 6.89 kPa
- 1 kPa = 0.14 psi
- 1 bar = 100 kPa
- 1 kPa = 0.01 bar
